AICCCA requires all counselors of member agencies to become certified within six months of hire. The Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education® provides the approved certification. AFCPE® is a twenty-two year old membership and certification association for professionals who provide credit, financial and housing counseling to members of the public. The ACC program is a one-course, self-study program covering the following topics: counseling skills and techniques, credit use, budgeting, personal financial statements, credit laws, overcoming over indebtedness, bankruptcy and consumer issues. The cost of the program for AICCCA members only is $50 to enroll and $225 for course materials and one examination attempt. The exam retake fee is $125. To enroll in the program, please download the certification application form from the AICCCA Web site and submit directly to AFCPE according to the instructions on the form.
